Furnas is located right next to the big Vila Galé hotel on the southside of Ericeira town. It only works proper with bigger swells and can be your best bet when the other spots in the Ericeira region are huge and you don’t feel like driving. Normally Furnas is quite a flat wave with slow sections, but you can have good and long rights here, especially with lower tide. Although fat, this wave can be quite strong and powerful on big days.

Don’t be mistaken with the wave next door called Pico do Futuro. It might look like the peak from Furnas, but it’s not. Pico do Futuro is a hard and dangerous wave! Furnas is a smaller, gentler wave that starts to form on the inside of the bay on bigger days. Furnas is sheltered from the worst of the strong north winds by cliffs and the big hotel. Pay attention to the big rocks close to the beach!
